Eating Vertical

Concepts and renderings of vertical farms have been thrown around for some time – but none have come to fruition until now. The first vertical farm opened in Singapore last week, consisting of 120 aluminum 30-foot towers filled with rows and rows of three types of produce. At full capacity, it can produce 1,000 pounds of vegetables a day, helping to offset the densely-populated city’s dependence on imported food (93% comes from outside the city).
