Snow Pattern

The white consistency of freshly fallen snow presents a perfect, ephemeral canvas for artists, blanketing the earth in a malleable material. Artist Simon Beck saw this, and went to work with his feet, creating giant, geometric patterned installations by walking across the terrain in snow shoes. Inspired by crop circles, Beck creates his works at a ski lodge in Savoie, France, taking an average of 10 hours to complete one fleeting piece. Artist Sonja Hinrichsen also created a similar grand gesture through snow, with the help of 5 volunteers, at Rabbit Ears Pass in Colorado.
