Watery City

Artist Jessica Backhaus presents a very different perspective of the waters of Venice with her new series, “I wanted to see the world.” Her images of the colorful reflections of Venice’s charming buildings show the city in a blurred, painterly light reminiscent of the Impressionists. Forms of windows, doors, and fencing are just visible enough to decipher, and overall her lovely well-cropped compositions expertly play the shapes and colors off each other.
